Day Trip to the Taj Mahal

If you’d like to do a day trip from Delhi by road or by train, then you can try this tour.
What this tour is about: The Taj, of course! A monument to love, or an emperor’s grandiose folly – whichever way you look at it, the Taj is an incredible sight and is likely to be the highlight of your trip. The nearby Agra Fort is a UNESCO World Heritage site, and offers glimpses into the life and times of the Mughal Emperors.
How we do it:

By car: We’ll take a comfortable and roomy vehicle from Delhi to Agra (air-conditioned car, SUV or bus, depending on the number of people in your group). It is a 4-5 hour drive, so we recommend you leave Delhi at 6:30 a.m. to avoid traffic. The guide will meet you in Agra (if you prefer a fully escorted tour, we can assign a guide who accompanies you from Delhi). We’ll spend time at the Taj Mahal and at Agra Fort, where our guides will explain the history and architecture of these monuments, and the lives of the interesting people who built them. After a leisurely lunch at Agra, we will drive back, and reach Delhi by 8:00 or 9:00 p.m.

By train and car: We will pick you up at your hotel in Delhi at 5:30 a.m., and drop you to Delhi train station to take the express train to Agra departing at 6:15 a.m. The train reaches Agra by 8:15 a.m. Breakfast is on board the train (included in the train ticket). At Agra station, we will pick you up and take you sightseeing. After seeing the Taj and Agra Fort, we will return to the train station. The express train to Delhi departs at 9:15 p.m., so if you do not wish to return early to the train station, you may visit some additional monuments (Itmad-ud-Daulah's tomb) or go shopping in Agra (there are several large emporia that cater to tourists, but remember to bargain) or go to the other side of the Yamuna river for sunset views of the Taj. If you wish to do the 3-hour extension trip to Fatehpur Sikri, then please let us know and we will include it in the price. The express train arrives in Delhi at 11:30 p.m. We will pick you up at Delhi station, and drop you to your hotel by 12:00 midnight or 12:30 a.m.
Total Tour Time: Varies between 14 to 17 hours
